Early flight

I’ve heard of a great start to the butterfly season further south – peacocks and small whites, for example, flying every day. Saw the first small tortoiseshell today in the churchyard at Burton Dassett… which is worth visiting just for the primroses at this time of year. But it seems a big horse chestnut tree next to the church gate succumbed to naughty Doris.
