Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep

A flock of around a dozen house sparrows has returned to the garden – good to see them back after an absence of a couple of years. Plenty of happy festive chirpings as they tuck into seed and crumbs. Sadly, numbers in the UK have fallen by more than 70% since the mid-1970s – who would have thought the humble sparrow would now be on the Red List whilst also becoming a priority BAP species?!
Cats don’t help.
