Gutter press

A blackbird threw some soggy leaves out of a gutter and onto the top of my head this afternoon. It stopped its busy, busy, busy activity and eyed me cautiously before gathering more, pressing it into its beak, dropping it, starting again and then flying off to a secret nest site. It will be a prime mix of mud, moss and old autumn leaves and it’s reminded me the gutters probably need cleaning.
