The clattering of a train

Jackdaws everywhere this evening – at least a hundred over the Primary School fields and the churchyard. Certainly enjoying themselves as a great family flock which probably included lots of this year’s new birds. They almost made a starling-type murmuration and must be roosting somewhere nearby. They made lots of joyous noise too, which perhaps accounts for their two collective nouns – a clattering of jackdaws or a train of jackdaws. Take your pick.
