The fallow season

Flowers and crops are coming to an end now, but a different sort of fallow season is just about to begin – look out for the fallow deer on the roads around Loxley, and particularly in the woods on the slopes between there and Wellesbourne. Sometimes a group will cross (or charge across…) the road and this morning, unfortunately, a dead specimen lay by the hill climbing out of Wellesbourne.

Also, look out for roe deer sometimes grazing in the narrow wooded embankments just beyond the Wellesbourne dump (sorry, Community Recycling and Waste Disposal Facility, now with reduced and less convenient opening hours).
