Admiral of the fleet

A flotilla of butterflies about at the moment – plenty of small tortoiseshells, some meadow browns and always a couple of red admirals skipping around the flowers by the front door. Another was bravely landing on the brambles that lie less than a foot way from the entrance to the beehive.

But I’ve only seen one painted lady so far this year – and that was down in Somerset!
