Here we glow, here we glow, here we glow….

IMG_6800The moth trap threw a bright glow across the garden last night – hope our hedgehog wasn’t too worried.

The weather was warm and humid – perfect conditions – and this morning we were rewarded with a fine Eyed Hawk Moth, a large Poplar Hawk Moth and two Elephant Hawk Moths. All were in tip top condition so had probably emerged over the last day or two.

Nothing beats those eyes on the Eyed Hawk! Summer has arrived… but so have the thunderstorms!

  1. 11th June. Just found an elephant hawk moth sitting in the middle of the meadow patch in our garden, mid-afternoon. I’m guessing it must have recently hatched out. Stunning.
