Last of the season

Been on Edge Hill picking the last blackberry crop – still just enough to fill a couple of tubs, but I think that’s it for the year now, Low shafts of sunlight streamed through the gap between Ilmington Downs and Meon Hill and a fox sat by the side of some brambles watching the late afternoon turn to dusk. It seemed oblivious to my nearby presence – I think, like me, it was busy thinking about the onset of autumn…. as well as working out when the clocks go back!
