Marbled White

Marbled White – no, not a posh loaf of bread from Waitrose – but the beautiful black and white butterfly that passed through our garden this morning! With wings patterned a bit like a chess board, this is one of my favourite butterflies. Annual records show they are seen around Kineton each year, but this was our first sighting. They can be found near Harbury too, as well as in the grounds of the Horticultural Research Centre near Wellesbourne. Cotswold meadows are always a good bet too, since they are predominantly associated with chalk grassland.
