Sunny weather

A bit of warmth brings everything to life – including the sparrowhawk that swooped into the garden and pounced on a young blackbird. It carried it away amidst much screeching from the parents and lots of other birds. It’s still around as the alarm calls keep going up. Better news from a blackbird nest near the front door that has four healthy chicks just about to get ready to take flight – hopefully they will survive ok.

Holly blues on the wing today, plus orange tips looking for the hedge mustard to lay their eggs on. And the billowing cow parsley is at its very best at the moment.

  1. Sklarks and swifts both seen and heard over Red Road this evening. We had a pile of feathers in the garden at the weekend too – so I think the sparrowhawk may have visited Banbury Street too.
